I spent election night alone with my tv and cell phone, texting a couple of likeminded friends. My office is a rightwing republican hellhole, in a Western PA small town that clings to guns and religion and bitches when anyone calls them on it. I’m glad to know that, although i’m in the minority here, the rest of the country shares my joy. And as always, you have a way with words, my friend.

Even watching Michelle Obama sitting confidently in the White House w/ Laura Bush — and thinking how blacks weren’t allowed, originally, at the White House Easter egg rolls (or, I think not; I should verify that).

I feel the same way. I get weepy when I see footage of that night. Especially the footage of a crying Jesse Jackson. Because even though I am not black, I felt what he felt that night, what you felt, what America felt. Pride, hope, relief, and joy!

I too, find myself randomly crying still. I see photos of Obama or video footage and I get this beam in my heart. Its something I’ve NEVER felt before in politics. Did you notice the day after, how happy people were, how nice random strangers were? I usually avoid small talk and I found myself talking to almost every person I saw. So amazing.
