For whatever reason, when I was a kid, I would lay awake at night, petrified that if I didn’t look like an inanimate head without a body on my bed, Ronald McDonald was going to come out of my closet and stab me to death with knives in both hands. During the day, I ran from my bedroom to the bathroom as fast as possible because I thought the Fry Guys were chasing me. I’d slam the bathroom door shut and lock it as fast as possible.
When I was in college, I wrote a terrible (and confusing) poem about this (and I mean terrible). I don’t remember the poem anymore, but I do remember the last line: “Grimace can only laugh.”
This photo would have given me nightmares for months if I had seen it 30 years ago.

Totally photoshoped – look at the light on the left hand side of the boy. See how shiny his left arm and head are… you know, right were Grimace is covering it? Yeah. Bad photoshop indeed.
